Operating out of 417-F on Suramangalam Main Road keeps us right in the middle of everything. Quality Starch & Chemicals (India) Pvt. Ltd. has been here for a good stretch of time. The road outside is always loud with bikes and buses going past. Our building is easy to spot once you get used to the rhythm of the traffic around here. Inside, it’s mostly about starch and different chemical batches we handle every day. It’s a bit dusty sometimes because of the products, but that is just part of the trade. We have a small crew and most of us have been working together for years. We know who likes their coffee strong and who prefers tea in the afternoon. There isn’t a lot of formality. If a customer walks in, they usually just talk to whoever is closest to the front desk. We handle the paperwork and the shipping without making a big fuss about it. The warehouse space in the back stays pretty cool even when the sun is beating down on the main road. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, so we just sit on the steps and wait for the generator to kick in. It’s a practical way to live. We focus on getting the starch orders out on time and making sure the chemicals are stored right. Nothing fancy, just the usual daily grind at our Suramangalam spot.
