Elastomeric Engineers

You can find us over at The Salem Aeropark, which sits right on NH7 in Ammapalayam Village. Being near Mallur makes it easy for trucks to find us, though the highway traffic can be a lot sometimes. Elastomeric Engineers isn’t a very large operation, but we stay busy with the technical stuff we handle every day. The Tamil Nadu sun can be really something in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going constantly in the workshop. It’s an industrial area, so there is always the sound of someone welding or a machine humming nearby. We started out with just a few basic tools and have added more over the years as we saw the need. The office is tucked into one corner of the building, mostly filled with files and some old chairs for when people come to visit. We don’t have a big receptionist or anything like that. Usually, if you walk in, you’ll just see one of us working on a drawing or checking a part. We focus on the engineering side of things because that’s what we know. It is a lot of measuring, checking specs, and making sure the rubber parts or whatever we are working on are right. We’ve had the same neighbors for years, and we all kind of look out for each other on this stretch of the road. It is a basic, honest way to spend the workday and we like the location despite the heat.
