Jain Steel

Jain Steel is located right in the middle of the Main Market on Bhaddi Road. We are at number 192. It’s a very crowded area, especially on market days when everyone is out and about. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the other shopkeepers on this stretch. The morning starts with opening the heavy shutters and seeing what needs to be moved first. We have stacks of steel that take up most of the room. It’s not a huge place, so we have to be careful how we pile things up so nothing falls. The traffic on Bhaddi Road is almost always backed up, which makes it tricky for our delivery vehicles to get in and out. Sometimes we’re just waiting around for a truck to clear the lane. We don’t really do any big advertising or anything. People just walk in because they see the sign or they’ve been coming here for years. It gets pretty hot inside during the summer months, but we have a small fan that helps a bit. We spend a lot of time writing down orders in our ledgers and checking the stock. It's a lot of manual work, moving metal around and making sure the counts are right. We don’t have a website or anything fancy, just the shop and the stuff we sell. It’s just how we run things here in the market.
