You can find Gandhi Public School on the Old Sriramalingeswar Temple Road in Gunupur. Being in the Rayagada district means we are a bit far from the big cities, which we actually quite like. The temple nearby is a constant presence, and we often see people heading there for prayers while we are starting our school day. Our building is a simple one, and it sits right on the road, so we see everyone passing by throughout the day. We have been part of this community for years, and most of the people who work here grew up in this region. We don't have any polished corporate offices or professional spokespeople. If you come by, you’ll probably just meet one of us sitting at a plain wooden desk in the main office. We spend a lot of time talking to parents from the village and the nearby towns. The classrooms are basic, with enough room for the students to sit and learn without being too cramped. We make sure the blackboards are clean and the chalk is ready every morning. It gets quite dusty on the road, so we are always sweeping the front steps to keep the place looking decent. Life here follows the seasons, and we just try to provide a steady place for the kids to come and spend their days. It’s honest work, and we don’t try to make it sound like anything more than it is.
