Ratnasagar Agri Rural Water Foundation

Down in Sukhdar, Khed, you will find our little office at House Number 645. It is a quiet spot in Ratnagiri where we spend most of our hours working on rural water foundation tasks. Most days involve walking out to check pipes or having long talks with neighbors about how the wells are holding up. April brings a lot of heat to this part of Maharashtra, so things move a bit slower then. Our space isn't a fancy corporate building with glass walls; it's just a couple of rooms in the house where we keep our files. Sometimes the internet acts up, but we just get on with it. People from the village stop by regularly to ask about the water supply. We have been rooted here for a while now. Being in a village feels much better to us than being stuck in a big city. Plenty of trees surround the property. Much of our time is spent outdoors near the local water sources. It’s definitely hard work, especially when the monsoon arrives and everything turns into a muddy mess. Inside House 645, we manage the paperwork at a simple desk. When meetings happen, the room gets quite crowded quickly. We usually just pull up extra chairs or sit outside under the shade if it’s not raining. Keeping things simple is our way of doing things. Handling rural water needs a lot of patience. You just wait for the right season and the rain. Each morning starts with tea, and then we just get to work.
