Sakman Farmer Producer Company Limited is run from Jitendra Singh’s place at number 1 in Syawari Rath. If you come to the area, you can easily find us there. We are a small group of farmers who decided it was time to put our heads together. Farming in Rath has its own challenges and we thought having a company would help us stay organized. We don't have a reception desk or a secretary. Most of the time Jitendra is out in the fields like the rest of us. We meet when we can to talk about what we need to buy for the next season. It could be seeds or maybe some equipment that we can all use together. We try to keep things simple and practical. There is no corporate talk here, just plain English and local talk about the weather and the prices at the mandi. We have seen good years and bad years. The company is our way of trying to make the good years a bit better. We handle the registration and the boring legal stuff so the farmers can focus on their crops. It is a lot of back and forth between the fields and the house. We don't have a lot of fancy furniture, just some old tables and chairs where we sit to sign papers. It is a community thing and we all know each other well. We are just trying to keep the farming life going in Syawari Rath despite the heat.
