Surendra Hair Style Saloon

We have been running Surendra Hair Style Saloon here in Ratu for a long time now. The shop sits right on Ranchi Road, so there is always plenty of dust and noise from the buses passing by all day. It’s a simple place with three chairs and a big mirror that we try to keep clean, though the fingerprints always come back by noon. Most of the men who come here are from around the neighborhood. They stop in for a quick haircut or a shave before going to work. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum quite loudly when the power is on. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to open the door wide to let the breeze in. We keep a stack of old newspapers on the bench for people waiting their turn. It’s mostly the same faces every week. We know who likes a close shave and who just wants their sideburns trimmed a little bit. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so there’s a lot of sweeping to do between customers. It is just a regular shop where people talk about the weather or the local news while getting their hair done. We don't do anything too fancy, just the basic stuff that people need. The scissors need oiling every now and then, and the razors are kept sharp.
