Saundrya Ladies Beauty Parlour

We are located right here in Gajsagar Market in Kokar, which most people in Ranchi know is a busy spot. If you find the SBI Bank, you basically found us. The parlour isn't very big, but we’ve made it work for a long time now. It usually smells like rose water and hair spray inside. We have these old chairs that are still comfortable enough for a long session. During the wedding season, things get really hectic and we are constantly running around with bobby pins and heavy outfits. On normal days, it’s just local ladies dropping in for a quick eyebrow threading or to get their hair oiled. We don't have those fancy automated machines you see in the malls. We use our hands and the basic tools we’ve always used. The floor gets covered in hair by mid-afternoon, so we are always sweeping. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the hand fans until the generator kicks in. It’s a bit noisy with the market traffic right outside, but once you’re in the chair, you kind of forget about the noise. We know whose daughter is getting married and who is moving to a new house because everyone talks while they get their work done. It is just a small business trying to keep the neighborhood looking decent. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. It’s just us, working every day from morning until the market shuts down.
