Laxmi Nagar is usually busy, and our spot here at Piska More stays right in the middle of it all. Ratu Road has all kinds of noise from the rickshaws and people walking by. I usually get here a bit early to sweep the floor and get the towels ready. The mirrors have some spots sometimes that take a while to scrub off. We have been in this part of Ranchi for a long time now. People know us just by the name on the board. Inside, there are a few chairs and the light is okay but not too bright. It gets quite warm in the summers here. You can see the traffic moving outside while you wait. We keep a stack of old magazines on the corner table for when there is a wait. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to open the door wide to let the breeze in. It is just a normal place where women come to get their hair done or get their eyebrows sorted out. My hands stay busy most of the afternoon. We don't have fancy decorations or anything like that. The floor is just plain tile. I like the way the shop looks when the sun starts to go down. Most of the ladies who come here live just around the block. We talk about the local news or what is happening at the market while I work. It is a simple routine every day.
