Sinha Enterprises

Our shop, Sinha Enterprises, is located on the Main Road in Amla Toli, right next to the Badi Devi temple. Being so close to the temple means we are in one of the busiest parts of the area. There is always a crowd outside, especially during the festival season when the whole road gets blocked with people. We sell a variety of general goods and supplies that people in the neighborhood need. It’s a family business and we’ve been here for many years, so we’ve seen how much Amla Toli has changed over time. The shop is very simple with old wooden shelves that we’ve had since the beginning. We still use a lot of paper ledgers to keep our accounts because we are just more comfortable with that than using a computer for everything. It might seem a bit old-fashioned to some, but it works for us. When the temple has a big event, it gets very hard for us to get our supply trucks through the crowd, so we have to plan everything very carefully. We don't have any other branches or offices; this is it. We know most of our customers by their faces and we know what they usually come in for. Sometimes, when it's quiet in the afternoon, we just sit on stools outside and watch the street. It’s an honest, simple way to make a living, and we just try to be helpful to whoever comes through the door.
