Shankar Mens Beauty Parlour

Shankar Mens Beauty Parlour is located on Booty Road, right at the P H E D Chowk in Bariatu. If you know Ranchi, you know this crossing is usually full of cars and people heading towards the offices or the hospital. The shop is a basic men’s salon with the usual black leather chairs that have a few cracks in them. We’ve got the old-style razors and a lot of different combs sitting in jars. The walls are painted a simple color and we have a calendar hanging near the mirror. It’s a place where men from Bariatu come to get a quick shave before work or a haircut on their day off. The fan makes a bit of a clicking noise but it keeps the air moving. Outside, the Booty Road traffic is always loud, especially in the mornings. We usually have the radio on to some local station. It’s not a place where you find fancy luxury, just a solid chair and someone to cut your hair. Sometimes the water pressure is a bit low, but we manage with the buckets. We’ve been here at the chowk for a long time. People know they can just walk in and wait their turn. We keep the shop open all week because someone always needs a trim. It’s a simple business and we like the people who come in. It’s just a normal Ranchi barber shop.
