P. P. Gents Hair Cutting Saloon

P. P. Gents Hair Cutting Saloon has been a part of the New Market on Ratu Road for a long time. Ranchi has grown quite a bit over the years, but Ratu Road has always been a busy corridor. Being in the market means there is constant noise from the shops nearby and the people walking past. It is a lively place to be. I open up early in the morning, right when the other shopkeepers are pulling up their shutters. The shop is narrow and we have to be careful with how we move around when there are more than two people inside. We have the standard mirrors and a couple of revolving chairs that have been serviced many times. The light in the market can be a bit dim, so I have a few extra bulbs to make sure I can see what I am doing. Customers come from all over this part of Ranchi. Some are in a hurry to get to the office, while others have all the time in the world to sit and gossip. I’ve seen Ratu Road change from a quiet street to a major hub, but the way a man needs his hair cut hasn't changed at all. We just keep doing what we know how to do. The market atmosphere is great because you never feel lonely; there is always someone popping their head in to say hello while the traffic passes.
