Juhi Ladies Beauty Parlour

Juhi Ladies Beauty Parlour is on N C Road in the Doranda area of Ranchi. We’ve been in this building for a long time now. It’s a straightforward setup with a few chairs and some tables for our supplies. We have curtains on the windows so the ladies inside have their privacy from the street. Ranchi weather is usually okay but when it rains, the water splashes up near the door. We spend our mornings cleaning the mirrors and folding the hair capes. It’s not a large place, so we have to be organized with where we put everything. We have a small area in the back for washing hair. The walls are a bit plain but we have some pictures of hair styles up so people can pick what they want. Most of the women who come in are from the neighborhood. We see the same faces every month. We don’t do anything very complicated, just the usual things like cutting hair and doing facial work. We use simple products that we’ve used for years. It’s just us working here, so we get to know everyone well. The road outside can get busy with people going to work but inside it’s mostly just the sound of the fans and the talk. We keep the place open until late so people can come after their jobs. It is just a small business on N C Road and we take it one day at a time.
