Hotel Arya(Ranchi)

We have been running things for Hotel Arya from this side for a while now. My name is Shashi, and I work with my father, Anil Kumar, mostly handling the administration part of the business. Even though the hotel is over in Ranchi, a lot of the back-office work happens here in the Kustore Area of Jharia. It is a bit of a trek between Dhanbad and Ranchi sometimes, but we make it work. The office here isn't anything fancy, just a place where we keep the records straight and make sure the bills get paid. It gets pretty dusty out here in the mining belt, so we are always cleaning off the desks. People around here know us as a family that just puts in the hours. We don't really do the big fancy corporate talk because that isn't who we are. We just want to make sure the guests at the hotel have a room that is ready and that the staff has what they need to do their jobs. Sometimes the phone rings all day and other times it is quiet enough to hear the birds outside the window. We spend a lot of time on the computer or filling out forms for the government. It’s just regular work that needs doing every day to keep the hotel in Ranchi running like it should. We’ve been at this for some years now and the routine is just part of life.
