Ekjoot Women Farmer Producer Company Limited is located in Upali Odan, Rajsamand. You can find us at Narayan Lal’s place, he’s the son of Dal Chand Ji. We are a group of women who have been working the land for a long time, and we finally decided to organize ourselves under this name. "Ekjoot" means together, and that is exactly how we work every day. In this part of Rajsamand, women do a huge amount of the labor in the fields, but often we didn't have much of a say in the business side of things. Now, we handle our own seeds, our own crops, and we try to get the best prices we can. It’s not a fancy operation at all. Our meetings are often held while we are busy with other chores. We talk about the crops, the kids, and how to make the farm work better for our families. There is a lot of noise and laughter when we get together, but we take the work seriously. We don't use any corporate talk here; we just speak plain Hindi or the local dialect and get things done. It’s about making sure that the work we do with our hands actually pays off. We are learning how to handle the company rules as we go, and it is a bit of a challenge sometimes, but we are getting there as a group.
