Our factory is over at G- 506 in the Lodhika GIDC area in Metoda. It is quite a large space because the CNC machines we work with are pretty big. There is a constant drone of electricity and the sound of cooling fluid spraying as the tools cut through metal. We have a lot of people on the floor during the day shifts, all wearing their heavy boots and checking the measurements. It is a serious place because you have to be careful with the automation settings. Even though it is a bigger setup, it still feels like a local shop. We have a small canteen where everyone sits together for lunch. The sun hits the metal roof and makes it quite warm, but we are used to the heat by now. We spend a lot of time looking at screens and adjusting the code for the machines to make sure the parts come out the way they are supposed to. It is a lot of routine, checking and re-checking things. We are quite far out from the main city, so it’s a long commute for some of us. The GIDC is always expanding, so there is always construction noise nearby. We just keep our heads down and focus on the work on the shop floor. It’s a busy life here in Metoda and we just take it one shift at a time.
