Our little shop is number 203, located in Swaminarayan Nagar on Davda Road. Most of our time is spent making and selling different kinds of namkeen. If you happen to walk past our door, you will definitely smell the spices and the oil from the frying. It is a pretty small space, so things tend to get a bit crowded when we are in the middle of preparing a big batch. We have a lot of regular customers from the neighborhood who come by every week to get their snacks. We do not do anything fancy or modern, just the traditional recipes that people like to have with their tea. We try to keep the containers full, but sometimes we sell out of the spicy mix faster than we can fry up a new batch. That is just how the business goes. The shop itself is very basic, with just a few counters and the cooking area in the back. We have been on Davda Road for a few years now and we have seen many shops come and go. It is a friendly area to work in. We are not interested in trying to become a big famous brand; we just like making snacks that taste the way they should. We use the same ingredients we have always used. Sometimes the floor gets a bit messy with flour and salt, but we scrub it down every night before we head home. It is just me and a couple of others doing the work.
