Our place is out on Plot No.1 in Phase-2 of the R.K. Industrial Park. It's along the Ahmedabad Highway, right across from the Bharat Benz showroom. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, but there’s plenty of space. We work with instruments and machine controls here at Gmaa Star Instruments Machines Controls. The building is a basic industrial structure. We spend most of our time out on the floor or at the workbenches. It gets pretty dusty with the wind coming off the highway. We’ve got some heavy equipment and a lot of tools scattered around. It isn't a showroom; it's a working shop. Most of us have been working together for a long time. We know the machines better than we know anything else. The road outside always has trucks moving back and forth. It’s noisy, but you get used to it. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. Just the plot number and the name on the door. It’s a lot of manual work and checking dials. Sometimes things break and we have to fix them. That’s just part of it. We don't use fancy words. We just make sure the controls and instruments work. The wind really picks up out here in the afternoons. We keep the doors shut then to keep the dust off. Gmaa Star Instruments Machines Controls is a place where we use our hands and our eyes. We don't sit in meetings all day. We’d rather be at the benches. The highway is always there like background noise. We’ve got some older guys who have been doing this for decades. They show the younger ones how it's done. It’s a practical place.
