Chikhaliya Farmers Producer Company Limited

This company is basically run out of Pankajbhai Vallbhbhai Ukani’s place in Chikhaliya. It’s a small village in Upleta, part of Rajkot. Most of us here are farmers ourselves, so we know how the seasons go. We decided to come together as Chikhaliya Farmers Producer Company Limited because it made more sense than working alone. It’s not always smooth sailing. Dealing with the government rules and the weather at the same time is a lot. We meet up at the house to talk about seeds, prices, and who is harvesting what. There isn't a big office with a secretary or anything. Just us sitting around and figuring things out. The address is 360410, which is pretty deep into the rural area. You won't find us on any main highways. We’re more used to the dirt tracks and the fields. It’s a collective effort, really. Everyone puts in what they can. Sometimes the meetings go long into the evening because there is always something to argue about or settle. We don't have a marketing team. We just talk to our neighbors. The crops are what matter most to us. If the rain is good, everyone is happy. If not, well, we just have to hunker down and help each other out. That is how things work here in Chikhaliya. It’s a simple life, but it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset most days of the year. We are just local farmers doing the best we can together.
