Ajay Ceramic

You can find us at Plot No. 22/1 in R.K. Nagar. We are just off Panchasar Road, not far from the 8-A National Highway in Wankaner. This whole area is full of ceramic shops, but Ajay Ceramic is our little corner. It is a busy spot with trucks constantly moving back and forth on the highway. We spend most of our time in the back where the kilns are. It gets really hot in there, especially during the summer months. We make different types of ceramic items, mostly things people need for their homes. It is a lot of manual labor, lifting heavy molds and checking the glaze. Sometimes things break in the kiln, and that is always a frustration, but it is part of the trade. We have learned to live with the dust. It is everywhere, on our clothes and in the office. We do not really do much advertising. People know where we are because we have been on this plot for a long time. My brother handles the deliveries and I stay back to watch the production. We have a couple of dogs that hang around the yard to keep us company. It is not a glamorous business, just a lot of clay and heat. We try to keep the prices fair so the local builders keep coming back to us. It is a decent living for us. We just stay focused on the work we have to do.
