We spend most of our time here at Shop No.40 in the Bartan Market. It gets quite loud during the day because Dumartarai is a busy spot for people looking for kitchen stuff and household items. Being near the SBI Bank means there’s always someone walking past the door or stopping to ask for directions. The shop isn't huge but we keep it packed with all the regular stock people need. We usually open up early to beat the heat, though the dust from the market always finds its way inside somehow. Our shelves are a bit crowded and sometimes it takes a minute to find the exact thing a customer wants, but that’s just how it goes here. There’s a tea stall just a few doors down where we get our morning chai, and that’s usually when we plan out what needs to be moved or sorted for the day. It’s a lot of lifting and shifting boxes. Some days are slow and we just sit on the stools watching the traffic go by, but then it picks up and everyone is rushing at once. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and the neighbors are all familiar faces. It’s not fancy or anything, just a regular place where we get the work done and hope the fans keep working when it gets stuffy inside. We try to keep things organized but with new deliveries coming in from the back, it’s a constant struggle to keep the floor clear for people to walk.
