Makdi Organic Producer Company Limited

We started this group in Makdi, working out of Dukdu Ram Shori’s place in Ulera village. It is a quiet part of Bastar. Mostly we are just people from the local area who got together to handle the farming stuff better. Being in Patel Para, we see each other every day. Our focus is on the organic side of things because that is how it has always been done around here. It wasn't always easy to set up a company like this in a place like Chattisgarh, but we managed. We spend our days dealing with the crops and making sure the soil is right. There are a lot of us involved now. It's not a big fancy office, just a practical setup to help the growers in the village get their produce out. Sometimes the rain makes the roads difficult, but we keep going. The work is hard and the sun is hot, but having a collective makes a difference for everyone in the village. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Just some local folks trying to keep the traditional ways alive while making sure we can actually sell what we grow. It's about the land and the people living on it in this corner of Bastar. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day. It's not always perfect, and sometimes the paperwork piles up, but we get through it. There is always a lot to do before the sun goes down.
