Mahanadi Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is located in Khokhari village, near Tanod in the Pamgarh area. We use Anita Sahu’s place as our main point of contact for the company. This group was started because a lot of us farmers in the village needed a way to work together. We grow crops and then figure out how to get them to market without too much trouble from middle men. It is a busy life here in Khokhari. We spend most of our time out in the dirt. When we are not farming, we are at the house checking the books or talking about the next planting season. It is a straightforward operation. No one here wears a suit or has a big title. We are just local people trying to make a living from the land. The Mahanadi river is close by, and that is a big part of our lives and how we grow things. We handle the collection of the produce and find people who want to buy it. It is not always easy, and there are always problems with the machines or the rain. But we stick together and get it done. It is just us, the local farmers from around Pamgarh, doing what we have always done but in a more organized way. We keep our files at Anita’s house and meet there when the work in the fields is finished for the day. It is a real community effort and we help each other out.
