Kangaroo Kids Pre School

This place is basically a house turned into a school, located at House No 10 in CG Vaishali Colony. It's in the Amaredhi area of Raipur. Since it’s a house, it feels a bit different than those big institutional buildings. We have a small front yard where the kids play when it isn’t too hot outside. Raipur gets really sunny, so we usually keep them indoors by mid-morning. The rooms are filled with small chairs and low tables. We’ve got cubbies for their bags and shoes. Sometimes the shoes get mixed up, which is always a bit of a puzzle at the end of the day. Our neighbors are mostly families, so they are used to hearing the songs and the shouting during recess. We keep the gate locked during the day for safety. The floor is tiled and we spend a lot of time mopping it because kids bring in sand from the yard. We have some posters on the walls showing letters and colors, and a few stacks of picture books that have seen better days. It's a simple setup. Most parents live right here in Vaishali Colony, so they just walk their kids over. We know everyone’s face and which kid belongs to which parent. It’s a quiet life here, except for the noise the children make. We just focus on getting through the daily schedule and making sure everyone gets their snacks on time. It is a very humble place to be.
