Ashish Hardware

Our shop, Ashish Hardware, is located in Banjari Nagar at Subhas Chowk. We are right in the Birgaon area, very close to the Mahatma Gandhi Higher Secondary School. Because of the school, there are always kids running around and parents dropping them off. It makes the mornings very energetic. We sell all kinds of things people need for their homes—nails, hammers, paint, and pipes. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling, and sometimes I’m the only one who knows exactly where a specific screw is hidden. It is a bit dusty, but that is just part of the hardware business. We get a lot of local workers and homeowners coming in. Some of them aren't quite sure what they need, so we spend time talking through their projects with them. It is nice to see something someone built using stuff they bought from us. We don't have a website or any of those modern things. People just know to come to Subhas Chowk when they need to fix a leak or paint a room. My son helps out after his classes, and we manage to keep things going. The summers are the busiest because that is when everyone wants to do their repairs. We just keep the doors open and wait for the next customer to walk in with a broken part in their hand. We will stay here as long as people keep needing tools to fix their houses.
