Bhushan Steel Ltd. Khopoli.

Our work happens at the Bhushan Steel Ltd. power plant in Khopoli. You have to go to Gram-Savroli in the Khalapur taluka of Raigad to find us. It’s a big site, specifically the Mg.-1015 area. Nayant Jain and the rest of the crew are usually around making sure things are running like they should. Working at a power plant for a steel company is a bit different than a regular office. There is a lot of noise and heat, and you always have to be careful where you walk. We focus on keeping the power steady because without it, the whole steel process stops. It’s a lot of responsibility but we just take it one shift at a time. The local area of Savroli is quiet compared to the plant itself. We have people from all over coming to work here. We don't have much time for sitting around. Most of the day is spent checking gauges, walking the floor, and making sure the maintenance is up to date. It’s hard work and it gets dusty, but it’s what we do. We eat our lunch together and talk about the local news or the weather. It’s a very grounded life. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just keeping the lights on and the steel cooking. There are plenty of challenges every week, but we just deal with them and keep the machinery running as best as we can for the whole plant.
