Our office is located right near the Mahalingeshwara Temple in Sindhanoor. It is in the Raichur District, which is a place that gets quite hot during the summer months. Sajjalashree Womens Sheep And Wool Farmers Producer Company Limited is a company focused specifically on the women who are involved in sheep and wool farming around here. We started this because we wanted a simple way for the women in this area to work together and share their resources. It is not a big corporate project at all. We often meet up near the temple and discuss what needs to be done with the wool and our livestock. Most of us have been doing this kind of work our whole lives, so it is not something we really need to be taught. We just needed a central place to organize all the different tasks. The office is fairly small and it usually smells a bit like the outdoors, which is perfectly fine by us. We spend a lot of time talking to the members and figuring out how to get the best results for our wool. It is hard work, and sometimes the market isn't very helpful to small producers. We don't have any fancy equipment, just the basics to keep track of who has brought in what. Sindhanoor is a busy taluk, but we try to stay focused on our specific jobs. It is more of a community effort than a business, really. We support each other through the good and bad seasons.
