Shahi Bricks

Our brick kiln is situated in Town Purnia, specifically over in the Basai area. It’s quite easy to find since we are right near the government school. You can usually hear the kids playing during their break while we are out here working the clay. Making bricks is a seasonal thing, so our lives mostly revolve around the weather. If it rains unexpectedly, it’s a big headache for us because the raw bricks get ruined. We’ve been operating here for a few years now, just supplying to people in the local area who are putting up walls or fixing their houses. It’s a dusty business, to be honest. My clothes are always stained with that reddish earth color, and it never really washes out completely. We don't have a fancy website or anything. Most people just stop their tractors or carts by the gate and ask what we have available. We spend a lot of time checking the fires in the kiln to make sure everything is baking right. It’s a lot of manual labor, stacking and unstacking. Sometimes we run short on wood or coal, and that slows things down. But we just deal with it as it comes. The local kids often wave as they walk past to the school, which is a nice break from the heavy lifting. It’s just me and a few local workers from around Basai. We aren't trying to change the world, just making sure the bricks are solid.
