Hotel Green Acres, Ranchi

Our place is Hotel Green Acres, but we are actually in Durgapur. The address is 6/58 J.N. Das Path, right in the City Center. It’s a bit of a funny thing because the name mentions Ranchi, but this is where the office is set up in West Bengal. Durgapur is an industrial city, so things are always busy around here. We are in a brick building that has seen better days. Our office is on the ground floor. We handle the bookings and the back-end stuff for the hotel from here. It is just a few of us. We have some old computers and a lot of ring binders full of guest names. We don't have a big lobby or a fancy sign. It feels more like a small family business. We spend our days answering the phone and trying to keep the records straight. Sometimes the rain in Bengal is so hard we can’t even hear ourselves talk. We just wait for it to pass.
