We’ve been here at 122 Raviwar Peth for quite a while now. It’s a busy part of Pune, especially in the afternoons when the shops are all open and the streets are crowded. Yashada Classes is basically just a few rooms where we sit down with the students and go through their textbooks together. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they hold up the posters and charts just fine for now. Usually, the morning starts with opening up the heavy metal shutters and letting some air in before the first batch shows up. There’s a tea stall just around the corner that we all visit during the short breaks. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy outside with the traffic on the narrow streets, but everyone just gets used to it after a few days. We have these old wooden benches that have seen many years of students scribbling on them. It isn’t fancy or anything like the big offices you see. We spend most of our time just checking notebooks and making sure the kids understand what’s written on the board. Sometimes we stay late when exams are coming up, and the streetlights outside start flickering on. The fans make a bit of a humming sound, but it’s part of the atmosphere here. People in the neighborhood know us as the place where the kids come after school. It’s a simple setup. We just keep things moving day by day.
