Vikasjyoti Rose Nursery

At Vikasjyoti Rose Nursery, the work is mostly done outdoors on Manjari Main Road. I spend a lot of my time with a hose in my hand, making sure the rows of plants are getting enough water. The sun can be quite harsh on this stretch of road, so I wear a wide hat to keep my face from burning. My fingernails are almost always dark with soil, no matter how much I scrub them at the end of the day. We have various rows of roses, and I have to walk through them daily to check for any bugs or dry leaves. The noise from the traffic on Manjari Main Road is always there, but after a while, you just stop hearing it. I have a small wooden shed where I keep the shovels and the pots, and that is also where I go to get a drink of water when it gets too hot. The ground is a bit uneven, so you have to watch your step so you don't trip over a root or a stray bag of fertilizer. There isn't much shade except for under the bigger trees near the back fence. Sometimes people pull their cars over to the side of the road and walk in just to look around without buying anything. I don't mind much, as long as they don't step on the small saplings I just planted.
