Vijayraj Mens Parlour

Our shop is down on Lohiya Nagar Road, right in the Ganj Peth area of Pune. We are pretty easy to spot if you are near the Babu Mamdi Dhowk landmark. Vijayraj Mens Parlour is just a simple place where men from the neighborhood come to get their hair cut or a quick shave before they head off to work. We have been here for a good amount of time, and the chairs in the shop have seen a lot of faces over the years. The walls have some old posters, and there is always a radio or a small TV running in the background to keep things from being too quiet. The morning starts with us sweeping the floor and getting the tools ready. The razors need sharpening and the towels need to be fresh. Ganj Peth is a busy part of town, so there is always something happening outside the door. We see the same people almost every week, and we know exactly how they like their hair trimmed without them having to say much. It is not a place with a lot of bells and whistles, just a practical shop for regular guys. We stay open until late in the evening because that is when most of the workers come by after their shifts are done. It gets a bit crowded on Sundays, but we just keep working through the line and getting everyone finished up.
