You can find our little group over at 864 Solankarwasti in the Pune district. We operate out of Tulshiram Namdev Solankar’s place, which is right in the middle of our farming area. We aren't some big city firm despite being in Pune. We are just a bunch of local guys who have been farming these lands for as long as we can remember. We set up Vetalsaheb Farmers Producer Company because we needed a better way to buy supplies and sell what we grow. The office is really just a room where we keep our files and sit down to figure out our plans for the next season. It’s a lot of talk about the price of fertilizer and when the monsoon might actually start. We don't have any professional staff or people in suits. It’s just us, the same people you see out in the fields at five in the morning. We don't have any grand statements to make. Farming is just hard work and a lot of hoping for good weather. Sometimes things go wrong, like a pump breaking or a crop getting diseased, and we have to scramble to fix it. We keep things simple and honest here. If you come by the house, you’ll probably find us arguing about the best time to harvest or just sharing some news from the local market. It’s a real, grounded way to live and work together as a group for the future of our village.
