Vasundharasamuha Farmers Producer is based out of a flat in Pune, specifically Flat No.17 on the 3rd floor over at 39/1 Indrayani Nagar in Ambegaon. It might seem a little strange to have a farmer group headquartered in a third-floor apartment, but that is where Sanjay Prakash Kumbharkar keeps everything organized. Pune-411046 is a busy place, and being here helps us stay connected to the people who actually buy what the farmers grow. We spend a lot of time going back and forth between the city and the rural areas nearby. It is a lot of driving. The traffic in Ambegaon can be a real mess, especially in the evenings, but we have to be here to handle the paperwork and the distribution side of things. We are not some big corporate entity with a lobby. It is just a regular living space turned into an office. We talk to farmers all day on the phone and then try to make sense of the market prices at night. It is a bit of a scramble sometimes. We started this because we saw a gap between the fields and the city kitchens. We are just trying to bridge that gap without making things too complicated. It is a small group of us, just trying to make sure the farmers get what they deserve and the city people get something decent to eat. No frills, just plenty of hard work and endless phone calls to the villages.
