Our place is Unit No. 20 inside Yadav Vyapar Bhavan, which is on Shivaji Road in Shukrawar Peth. If you know that part of town, you know it’s an old business area with lots of narrow lanes and old buildings. The building we are in is quite busy with all sorts of small units and businesses. We are tucked away inside, so you have to know which way to turn to find us. It’s a working unit, so there are always piles of clothes being sorted and packed into cardboard boxes. The floor is usually covered in bits of thread and plastic wrapping. We don't have any fancy signs or a big storefront. It’s just a place where we get the job done. The noise from Shivaji Road is always there in the background—the sound of scooters and people shouting. We have a small crew and we all know each other well. We eat our lunch together and talk about whatever is happening in the news. It gets pretty crowded in the unit when a new shipment arrives, and we have to climb over things for a few days until it’s all sorted out. We aren't doing anything world-changing; we just make sure the garments are ready and sent out to the people who ordered them. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We focus on the daily tasks and try to keep things moving.
