Our place is on the first floor over in Hadapsar. You have to look for West Block 162 to find the entrance. It is a bit of a climb up the stairs, especially when it is hot outside. We have a dining area that is mostly filled with heavy tables and plastic chairs. It is not the most stylish setup, but it works for the people who come here to eat. We serve mostly lunch and dinner. The kitchen is right behind the main wall and you can hear the pans clanking all day long. I handle the cash register and talk to the suppliers when they bring the sacks of rice and flour. Hadapsar is a busy area, so we get a lot of workers who are in a hurry. They want their food fast and they don't care much for decorations. We have a couple of big windows that look out, but we keep them shut because of the noise from the street below. The fans on the ceiling are old but they still spin fast enough to keep the air moving. We don't have a fancy menu card. It is just a list we printed out a long time ago. Sometimes we run out of certain dishes by 2 PM. We just tell people and they pick something else. It is a straightforward way of doing things here. We stay open until the pots are empty and the floors are mopped for tomorrow.
