Down here at Gat No. 321 in Kurundtal-Parner, life is mostly about the land. Uma Agro Food Products Private Limited is our little venture. We're situated right in the village area, so we’re pretty close to where the actual food is grown. It makes sense for us to be here rather than in a big city. The office is just a sturdy building that does the job. We don’t have air conditioning that works all the time, so we leave the windows open and hope for a breeze. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We know the farmers and we know the crops. Parner is a place where everyone knows everyone’s business, which has its ups and downs. We deal with agro food products, trying to make sure the stuff from the fields gets processed right. It’s hard work and the hours can be long during harvest season. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy speeches. We just talk to people directly. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside and wait for it to come back. It’s a simple operation. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just trying to run a decent business and support our families. The road to the gate can get muddy when it rains, but we’ve got good boots.
