The Salon

The Salon is right here at Shivaji Nagar 1. It’s not one of those huge places with fancy lights and people in suits at the door. It is just a regular shop where we do hair and stuff. Most of the day is spent cleaning up after cuts and making sure the towels are dry. We have been in this spot for a while now and the neighbors know us. The street outside can get pretty noisy with the traffic in Shivaji Nagar, but inside it is mostly just the sound of scissors and the radio playing some local station. We keep a few chairs for people to wait, and there is usually a stack of old magazines that nobody really reads anymore. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that. It’s just us working here every day, trying to keep the place tidy and helping whoever walks through the door. Sometimes the mirrors get a bit dusty and we have to wipe them down again. We don't really do much advertising because people just see the sign when they are walking by. It’s a bit of a small space, but we make it work. Most of the time, we are just talking about the weather or what’s happening in the neighborhood while we work. It’s a decent place to spend the day, and we like being part of the street here and knowing the faces of the people who walk past.
