Tejal Bafna Lunkad

I set up my workspace here in Shantisagar Society, which is right in Sadashiv Peth. It’s on the third floor of building 1140. If you know the Perugate Police Station or the Shivaji Mandir, you’ll find the place pretty easily since we’re right across from the mandir. Being in this part of Pune means there is always something happening outside. I’ve been working under the name Tejal Bafna Lunkad for a good while now. It’s mostly just me and sometimes a couple of helpers when things get really packed with projects. I don't really have a big staff or a receptionist. Usually, I'm the one answering the phone or sitting at the desk drawing. I do a lot of residential work, helping people figure out how to use the space they have in their flats. Sadashiv Peth is a traditional neighborhood, so I see a mix of old houses and new renovations. I like the challenge of making things fit. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get a design right, but that’s part of the process. I don’t believe in making things over-complicated. Most of my day is spent on site visits or sitting here at the society office finishing up paperwork. It’s quiet enough on the third floor to get things done. People just stop by when they need some help with their home planning. It's just a simple, honest design practice.
