Talegaon Dhamdhere Agrotech Producer Company Limited is run by us out of Talegaon Dhamdhare. That is in the Shirur Taluka of Pune district. The company is set up at the place of Prakash Baburao Todkar. He’s the son of Baburao Todkar, and we’ve all been in this village for a long time. It’s a small place where everybody knows your name and your family's history. We aren't some distant company with a headquarters in a skyscraper. We are right here where the crops are grown. Shirur can be a tough place to farm because of the water situation sometimes. We decided to start this agrotech producer company to help deal with some of those local issues. It’s not just about selling things, it’s about figuring out better ways to do what we’ve always done. The office is just a regular room where we keep our papers and meet up. We don't have fancy furniture or a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll probably just find one of us working on the books or talking to a neighbor. It’s a lot of work to keep a producer company going. There are plenty of rules to follow and things to organize. We just take it one day at a time and try to stay helpful to the people around here who rely on the land.
