Sonafarmpt Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is run out of Dhakephal, specifically at Indrajeet Panditrao Thorat’s place at gut No. 131. We are a small group of people who know the land here really well. We started this because we were tired of being at the mercy of middlemen and wanted to have a bit more say in how our crops are handled. Being out here in the village, we don't have much in the way of big offices, so we use the space we have to organize our work. Everyone involved is a farmer first. We spend our mornings in the fields and then spend some time dealing with the company stuff later on. It’s about making sure we get what we need for the next season without a lot of hassle. We share what we know about the soil and what crops are growing best lately. It’s not a fancy operation, just a bunch of neighbors trying to make a decent living from the ground. We handle the collection of produce and try to find the best way to get it to the market so everyone gets their fair share. It’s a lot of talking and a lot of planning, but it’s better than working in the dark by yourself. We just want to see our village do well and keep our farms productive year after year.
