Sohampragati Rural Farmers Producer

Ghonsi is where we live and work, right in the Ghansawangi area. Our group is called Sohampragati Rural Farmers Producer, and we use Sw. Nandabai Bhagwat’s place at House No. Ghonsi(Bk) to manage our little operation. It’s a local effort, really. We are all from around here and we know the struggles of small-scale farming in the rural parts of Maharashtra. We didn't want to keep struggling on our own, so we put our names together. It’s not like we have a big staff or a fancy headquarters. It’s just us farmers and our families helping out when they can. We spend most of our time talking about the weather or the soil quality and how the crops are coming along. The paperwork side of things is a bit of a chore, but we handle it at the house. We don't have any slick marketing or a polished image. If you saw us, you’d just see people in work clothes trying to get things done before the sun goes down. We deal with the crops we’ve always grown, like cotton or soy, and try to make sure we don’t get a bad deal at the market. It’s a simple life, and this company is just a tool for us to use. We aren't trying to change the world; we just want to keep our farms going and help our neighbors out. It’s a bit disorganized sometimes, but we always get there in the end.
