Sinhgad Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our shop is in Dhankawadi, right there in Awantika Apartment, Shop Number 2. It’s a busy little corner of Pune. We have farmers coming in from the outskirts every morning with crates of whatever is fresh. The shop is small, so we have to be careful how we stack everything or you can’t even walk inside. It’s usually pretty noisy with the traffic from S.No. 24/7/1 right outside the door. We aren’t doing anything fancy here. It’s just a place where we can collect the produce and get it ready for the local markets. I spend a lot of my time behind the small wooden counter, writing down who brought what and how much we owe them. The fan in the ceiling squeaks a bit, but it helps with the heat. We started this because we wanted a way for the guys in the Sinhgad area to sell their stuff without too many middlemen taking a cut. It’s hard work and the margins are thin. We don’t have a website or a social media manager. We just have our phone and our reputations. Sometimes the days are long and we don’t close up until late at night. It’s just the reality of working with food and farmers. We’re just a small part of the neighborhood, trying to do things the right way.
