Sindhu Batra Femme Salon is tucked away on the first floor of the Victoria I building in Fortleza. It’s right there in Kalyani Nagar, above Gkb Opticals. If you’re looking for us, just find the Kalyani Veg. Restaurant and we’re very close to that. You have to walk up the stairs to shops 230 and 231. Being upstairs means we don’t get as much street dust, which is nice. The salon has a lot of mirrors and the lighting is pretty good for doing detailed work. We’ve been here for a while, so we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the building. You can hear people moving around in the offices nearby. We focus on things for women, hence the name. It’s a space where you can just sit down and not worry about the traffic outside on the main road. The chairs are well-worn but comfortable enough. We keep our tools laid out on the counters, ready for the next person who walks through the door. It’s not a huge corporate chain; it’s just us doing what we know how to do. Sometimes it’s quiet and we just organize the shelves, and other times every chair is taken and we’re running around. We try to keep a decent pot of tea on the go. It’s a simple, honest setup where we work hard and look after the people who come to see us.
