Classic Hair Salon

You can find us on Momin Pura Road near Dalal Chowk in Ganj Peth. This part of Pune is always crowded and noisy, but our salon has been here for quite some time. It's a straight-up hair cutting place for men. We have the usual rotating chairs and a few mirrors on the wall. It’s nothing like those expensive places in the fancy parts of town with the big lights. We just do haircuts and shaves for the men around here. Usually, the door stays open to let some air in because the shop is small and can get stuffy. My father started this business a long time ago and now I run it with one helper. We have a lot of regular customers who come every month without fail. They know exactly where to sit and how we work. Sometimes we talk about the local news or the price of vegetables while I work. The floor gets covered in hair clippings quickly so we are always sweeping with the old broom. It’s hard work being on your feet all day but it's what we do to earn. The scissors need oiling and sharpening very often. We don't have fancy lights or air conditioning, just a couple of good fans on the ceiling that make a bit of noise. If you are near Dalal Chowk, you'll see our board right on the road. It’s a practical place for a quick cut without any fuss or waiting in long lines most of the time.
