You can find Siddhakala Farmer Producer Company Limited over at Patil Galli in Vhangutti. We are tucked away near the Hanumanmandir in Waghapur, which is right in the Bhudargad area. Most of the people involved here have lived in this village their whole lives. We know every inch of the soil around here. This company isn't about some big business plan, it’s about a bunch of families who grow things for a living. We got together because buying fertilizer and equipment is getting so expensive, and selling to the middlemen usually leaves us with very little. So we use the Siddhakala name to organize ourselves a bit better. Sometimes we meet up at House No. 60 to talk about the upcoming harvest or how we’re going to handle transport. It’s a lot of trial and error, to be honest. Some days are good and some days the weather doesn’t cooperate, but that’s just how it goes in this line of work. We aren't looking to become some massive corporation, we just want to make sure that the people who actually do the planting and the harvesting get to keep a bit more of the money at the end of the day. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset most days of the week, but we wouldn't have it any other way because this land is part of us. We just take things one day at a time.
