Shri Sai Cranes

Out here in Chakan, things are always moving. Our yard is at Plot 699 in Lokhande Wasti, right off the Chimbali Alandi Road. If you know this area, you know it’s all factories and big trucks. We fit right in because we’re the ones moving the heavy parts those factories need. It’s a lot of iron and steel every day. I started this because I saw how much stuff was being built around here and realized they needed a way to lift it all. It’s not an easy life, the sun beats down on the yard and the dust from the road covers everything in ten minutes. We spend a lot of time maintaining the cranes because if they break down, everything stops. My guys are local fellows, some from the village nearby, and they know their way around a hydraulic system. We don’t have a fancy website or a big sign, mostly just people calling us because they saw one of our cranes at another site. We deal with a lot of pressure because when a machine is stuck, it costs people money. So we try to be quick but we have to be careful too. It’s a lot of shouting over engine noise and waving hands to signal the drivers. By the end of the day, we’re all pretty worn out, but we lock up the gate and head home to do it again tomorrow. It is hard work but it pays the bills.
