If you stand near the bus stop at Mundhwa, you can see our shop right at the entrance of Gali Number 2. Being this close to the bus stop means there is always noise and people running around. Shreyas Gift Shop is a small spot where we keep things that people might need in a hurry. I usually spend my time rearranging the toys and the gift wraps. The shelves are made of simple wood and they have seen better days, but they hold everything just fine. We get a lot of commuters who realize they forgot a gift for a party they are heading to. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside when more than three people are browsing. I try to keep the glass clean, but with the buses stopping right there, the smoke and dust always find a way in. In the evenings, the streetlights outside flicker on and the shop looks a bit different. We don’t have a big warehouse, so whatever we have is right there on the floor or on the racks. It’s a basic setup. I usually have the radio playing softly in the back while I check the stock. It’s a local business and we’ve been part of this street for a while. You get used to the rhythm of the buses and the people asking for directions while they buy a small item. We keep the shop open late because that is when Mundhwa is most alive.
