I run Shree Purabji Gift Shoppee, which sits right opposite Swaraj Garden in Pimple Saudagar. If you are in the Sangavi area or Pimple Saudagar, you probably know the garden. We’re right across from it, so we get a lot of families who are out for the evening. The shop is a bit of a mix of everything. We have gifts, toys, and some household items too. It’s a convenient spot because of the landmark. I usually start my day by sweeping the front and arranging the outdoor displays. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoon, so I have to pull down the shades for a bit to keep it cool. We get a lot of people coming in after they finish their walk in Swaraj Garden. They might be looking for a toy for their child or a small gift for a friend’s house. I’ve tried to organize the shop so that the toys are at the bottom where kids can see them easily. It’s not a huge place, but we pack a lot into the space. Pimple Saudagar is a nice neighborhood, and I’ve gotten to know many of the families around here. Sometimes I have to go out to get new stock, and my brother watches the shop for me while I am gone. We don’t have any fancy displays, just regular shelves and hooks. It’s a simple way to make a living, and I like being part of the community.
