Shradha Scrap Center

Down in Dhyari Wadgaon Bk, our scrap center is a place where things that nobody wants anymore end up. It’s a big open space filled with stacks of old newspapers, plastic bottles, and rusty metal parts. We spend most of our mornings waiting for people to bring in their junk on cycles or in small tempos. Once the stuff arrives, we have to sort through it all. We put the cardboard in one pile and the iron in another. It’s dirty work and our hands are usually covered in grime by lunch time. We have a big heavy scale that we use to weigh everything so we can pay people for what they bring us. There is always a lot of clanging and banging as we move heavy things around or toss metal into the bins. It might look like a mess to someone walking by, but we have our own way of keeping track of what is where. Sometimes we find interesting old things in the piles, but mostly it is just the same stuff every day. The sun beats down on the yard and it gets pretty dusty when the wind blows through the area. We just stay busy moving things from the piles to the trucks that come to take the materials away for recycling. It’s a lot of lifting and shifting but that is just part of the job. It is a simple business at Shradha Scrap Center.
